William Henry became a medical student at the University of Alabama upon finishing high school. While a sophomore he
enlistedin the Confederate Army, Company I 17th. Regiment MS., Barksdale Brigade, Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.
Hw suffered a wound in the Battle of Gettysburg and was never able to resume his medical studies. He became a
successful farmer in Tate County, MS. until his retirement in 1904. He lived all his life, except five years, in Tate County.
He was a Methodist and was the local recording secretary of the church for thirty-eight years.
He married Mary Elizabeth Richmond of Marshall County, MS. first and they had five children. Secondly he married
Mollie Moring who was living in Marshall County, MS.. They had five children who are all listed above.
